A regal portrait greets you at the lobby of Villa Merced Hotel — that of Maria Merced “Edith” Nakpil-Rabat. A beauty queen, public servant, granddaughter of revolutionaries, and daughter of National Artist Juan Nakpil, Edith carried a legacy of courage, culture, and creativity. Above all, she held a deep love for Mati.

It was her wish that this property be entrusted to her son, giving rise to the home that would later become Villa Merced. Named in her honor, the hotel stands as a tribute to the family roots and values from which it was built.

Established in 2009, Villa Merced has long welcomed travelers seeking comfort in the heart of the city. In October 2025, the property was thoughtfully renovated and reimagined — incorporating its heritage charm with modern service and amenities designed for today's guests.

Today, Villa Merced Hotel continues to honor its story while evolving with the times, offering a stay that is both rooted in history and refined for the present.
